Today, the Tech To The Rescue Foundation is delighted to unveil the third Impact Cohort of the AI for Changemakers Accelerator Program, sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google.org.

This latest cohort includes 32 inspiring nonprofits from 14 countries on 5 continents, committed to advancing global health (see the full list below). Each organization brings a unique vision and proven achievements, ready to harness AI innovations to scale their impact.

What will the participating nonprofits gain from the AI for Changemakers Program?

  • Access to a global network of mentors and AI experts from the AI for Changemakers community.
  • 7-week AI Bootcamp starting in February 2025, led by experts from AWS and other tech leaders, focusing on enhancing tech and AI skills and scoping valuable AI projects.
  • AI Accelerator Experience where participants will receive pro-bono support from tech companies to develop custom AI solutions.
  • Customized AI innovations aimed at driving significant health action on a global scale.

Matching Technology with Purpose 

In the next stage, participants will take part in the AI AcceleratorExperience. During this phase, the Tech To The Rescue team will connect chosen organizations with AI-focused tech companies that will offer pro-bono assistance to create tailored AI solutions. This initiative is a fundamental element of the AI for Changemakers Program, and we look forward to witnessing how these personalized AI innovations will impact healthcare on a global scale.

Carefully selected CTOs and senior technical leaders from the participating nonprofits will have the opportunity to benefit from mentorship sessions with Dr. Vogels and his team, adding valuable insights and guidance to the program.

Meet the Third Impact Cohort: Health

The third cohort of this groundbreaking 3-year accelerator program comprises 32 nonprofits, chosen by the Tech To The Rescue team and program partners. These organizations were selected for their proven track record, visionary goals, and readiness to leverage AI for health innovations. Here are the participants:

  1. Tech Matters (United States)
    Tech Matters is a nonprofit organization using technology to drive systemic change in the social sector. Their AI ambitions include developing tools to enhance human-to-human counseling, such as AI-assisted data entry and ethical conversational agents to support helplines, making mental health services more accessible and impactful. 
  2. Next Step Foundation (United States)
    Next Step Foundation empowers marginalized communities, including persons with disabilities, women, and youth, to thrive in the digital economy. Their AI initiatives include developing culturally relevant chatbots to provide mental health support and address challenges in sexual and reproductive health, bridging the gap in counselor resources for underserved populations.
  3. VillageReach (Malawi)
    VillageReach transforms healthcare delivery to ensure accessibility for all. They aim to integrate AI agents into their systems to provide real-time, personalized responses to callers, improving service efficiency and ensuring tailored support when human agents are unavailable.
  4. Kosmotive (Rwanda)
    Kosmotive provides compassionate and confidential healthcare support, focusing on sensitive topics like maternal health and child wellness. Their AI goals include enhancing privacy-centric telehealth features, such as facial blurring and emotion recognition, to create a safe and inclusive environment for addressing critical health issues.
  5. Amref Health Africa (Kenya)
    Amref Health Africa drives community-led primary healthcare systems while addressing social determinants of health. Their AI aspirations include scaling their JibuAI chatbot with voice prompts and enhancing its capabilities to provide youth-friendly, contextualized support on climate-related health impacts and mental well-being.
  6. EB Research Partnership (United States)
    EB Research Partnership is dedicated to advancing treatments and finding a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) by 2030, paving the way for breakthroughs in thousands of other rare diseases. Their AI efforts include leveraging advanced data integration and machine learning tools to analyze health records, genomic data, and patient-reported information, driving research and personalized care for those affected by rare diseases.
  7. NALA Foundation (Israel)
    NALA works to break the cycle of poverty by eradicating neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through sustainable interventions in water, sanitation, hygiene, and behavior change programs. They aim to leverage AI for predictive GIS mapping, disease forecasting, and crowdsourced data collection, enabling targeted health interventions and more efficient operations to improve community resilience and health outcomes.
  8. Scope Impact (Finland)
    Scope Impact promotes health in the face of a changing climate, focusing on innovative, community-driven solutions. Their AI ambitions include enhancing their CHART tool with predictive models for climate-triggered health risks, machine learning for resilience assessments, and AI-powered analysis to recommend tailored adaptation solutions, driving impactful health outcomes at the intersection of climate and health.
  9. BRAC (United States)
    BRAC supports communities facing poverty and social injustice through impactful programs in health, education, and livelihoods. Their AI initiatives include developing generative AI tools to support community healthcare workers with personalized nutrition and health advice for mothers and children, as well as leveraging AI chatbots to provide real-time diagnostics and climate adaptation support, enhancing patient care and resilience.
  10. American India Foundation(United States/India)
    The American India Foundation improves lives in India’s underserved communities, focusing on women, children, and youth through impactful programs in education, livelihoods, and public health. Their AI goals include using predictive modeling to address undernutrition and premature births, enhancing preventative care in their MANSI program, while exploring broader AI applications across public health, education, and climate impact strategies.
  11. Dual Track (Ireland)
    Dual Track accelerates social impact by addressing community needs with advanced technological solutions. Their AI initiative focuses on creating a matching algorithm to optimize healthcare delivery, balancing patient loads across facilities to ensure efficient and equitable care.
  12. Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (PSMRI – India)
    PSMRI enables technology to empower decision-making across public health systems. Their AI initiatives focus on decision support tools and tailored training for frontline workers, AI-driven health helplines, and solutions for data privacy, all designed to enhance healthcare delivery and community impact.
  13. Parkers Mobile Clinic(Nigeria)
    Parkers Mobile Clinic delivers accessible healthcare to underserved communities with a focus on prevention and wellness. Their AI initiatives include developing a predictive analytics tool to identify at-risk populations, enabling targeted interventions and personalized care, and enhancing telehealth services to improve patient engagement and resource allocation.
  14. Sevamob(United States)
    Sevamob transforms primary care delivery in underserved areas. Their AI initiatives focus on enhancing point-of-care services by enabling screening for a wider range of medical conditions, improving accessibility and outcomes.
  15. Jacaranda Maternity(Kenya)
    Jacaranda Maternity operates specialized hospitals in Kenya, providing safe and dignified maternal and child healthcare. They aim to use AI to enhance patient management by aligning clinical actions with care standards and offering actionable suggestions to improve quality.
  16. eHealth Africa(Nigeria)
    eHealth Africa empowers communities with equitable access to quality healthcare through innovative digital solutions. Their AI initiatives focus on supporting community health workers with AI-driven clinical decision tools and coaching, grounded in locally relevant knowledge bases to improve primary care and health outcomes.
  17. U.S. Hunger(United States)
    Feeding Children Everywhere addresses food insecurity while promoting healthier futures for families. Their AI initiatives aim to enhance the Impact Manager platform by standardizing Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) data across coding frameworks, enabling seamless collaboration between community-based organizations, healthcare providers, and government stakeholders to improve holistic care delivery.
  18. Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation(Kenya)
    Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation strengthens emergency healthcare systems through capacity building, advocacy, and research. Their AI-driven Casualty App provides real-time decision support for emergencies, offering tailored medical guidance and ambulance tracking to improve response times and coordination, ultimately saving lives across Kenya.
  19. Alike(United Kingdom)
    Alike empowers people affected by cancer by fostering meaningful connections through digital platforms. They aim to develop an AI chatbot for round-the-clock companionship, providing empathetic support while enhancing platform safety with AI tools for content moderation and age verification, ensuring a secure and compassionate community experience.
  20. NextGenU.org(United States)
    NextGenU.org democratizes education to improve global health and well-being. They aim to develop an Intelligent Textbook Machine to create accessible, high-quality textbooks for low- and middle-income countries, building on the success of their STEPS project.
  21. curaJOY(United States)
    curaJOY enhances behavioral healthcare accessibility and equity by combining technology with science-based solutions. Their AI initiatives include self-harm detection, moderation for clinical standards, and culturally tailored therapeutic content, empowering underrepresented communities with adaptive and scalable tools to improve mental health outcomes.
  22. Elle International (South Africa)
    Elle International promotes access to safe and sustainable women’s health solutions while empowering women through education and inclusion. Their AI efforts focus on advancing diagnostic tools and conversational AI to improve medical reasoning and address diverse women’s health needs.
  23. Global Strategies(United States)
    Global Strategies improves the lives of women and children in underserved regions through healthcare. They aim to use AI to analyze data from neonatal clinics in Uganda and the DRC, identifying trends and supply shortages to empower local health systems with actionable insights, enhancing newborn care and administrative decision-making.
  24. HelpMum(Nigeria)
    HelpMum strives to eradicate infant and maternal mortality in Africa through technology and innovation. Their AI initiatives focus on developing models to enhance maternal and infant healthcare, driving improved outcomes across the continent.
  25. Savana Signatures(Ghana)
    Savana Signatures empowers girls, women, and vulnerable populations through reproductive health, education, and skills development. Their T4MCH project leverages mobile technology and QR codes for maternal health tracking, with plans to integrate AI-driven predictive analytics to identify and address potential health risks more effectively.
  26. Smart Air Bangladesh(Bangladesh)
    Smart Air Bangladesh raises awareness about air pollution and promotes healthier living. They aim to develop an AI system to broadcast health advice and preventive measures during high pollution days via WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS, empowering communities to take timely action.
  27. Studio Bahia(United States)
    Studio Bahia makes therapy accessible to address mental health crises, including those in refugee camps. They aim to integrate Blockade Labs’ API to enable hospital patients to create immersive 360° VR experiences, providing therapeutic support through mobile virtual reality.
  28. DataGénero(Argentina)
    DataGénero fights for gender equality with a focus on data and AI ethics. No Pausa, its partner organization based in Latin America, has developed a platform to address challenges faced by women during menopause, offering services like automated diagnostics, symptom tracking, and AI-driven chatbots to provide personalized, scalable, and 24/7 support. Together, they are bringing their expertise in data, AI, and women’s health to create a new solution addressing menopause.
  29. Centre for Population Health Initiatives(Nigeria)
    The Centre for Population Health Initiatives delivers holistic, client-centered healthcare solutions for vulnerable populations in Nigeria. Their AI goals include predictive analytics to anticipate health trends and risks, AI-driven chatbots to enhance community engagement, and real-time data analysis to optimize monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring personalized and impactful interventions.
  30. Friendship Bench(Zimbabwe)
    Friendship Bench creates safe spaces to address depression and anxiety, fostering mental well-being in communities. They aim to integrate AI into their mental health services, enhancing their call center, developing a unified service platform, and optimizing data analysis to improve operations and outcomes.
  31. Our Wave(United States)
    Our Wave serves as a safe space for survivors of sexual harm, domestic violence, and child abuse. The organization is exploring the development of an AI advocate to triage survivors, support overburdened crisis center staff, and ensure survivors receive timely access to resources and care.
  32. High Alert Institute, Inc. (United States)
    High Alert Institute focuses on resilience and equity through its All Hazards, One Health, One Nature (AHOHN) framework. They aim to leverage AI for a mental wellness app that matches users with personalized local resources and conduct big data analysis to correlate environmental and social factors with health outcomes, identifying causal relationships to improve public health.
