Theory of Change:
Building the AI-ready social sector the world needs now

Capacity Gap for AI in Social Impact
The problem

Closing the Tech Gap

The world’s toughest challenges - misinformation, democratic erosion, climate disasters, humanitarian crises or rising inequality - unfold at unprecedented speed. Yet while technology accelerates everywhere else, social impact organizations are being left behind.

Organizations responsible for protecting society from these challenges are equipped with pre-digital systems, underfunded teams, and limited technical capacity.

What's at stake

The next 12–24 months will determine the sector's future and which organizations lead the AI-for-good era.
87%
of funders admit they don’t understand their nonprofit’s tech capacity.
90%
of nonprofits don’t get funds for AI literacy or infrastructure.
Only
12%
of European nonprofits are digitally mature. And those who are achieve 4x more.
Only
12%
of nonprofit leaders feel confident using AI.
Meanwhile, the scale, speed, and complexity of the issues they face keep growing.
If civil society can’t adapt, progress slows. Without AI capacity in the impact sector, we risk losing not just efficiency - but the resilience and social fabric that keep democracy strong.

We exist to close the AI readiness gap in civil society - because solving human problems now often depends on technological capacity.

What we change

Tech To The Rescue Theory of Chnage

Our core insight

When nonprofits gain the knowledge, tools, funds and partnerships to use AI responsibly - they don’t just digitize impact. They multiply it.
At the smallest budgets (under $100K), AI-powered nonprofits serve a median of just under 2,000 lives. By the time annual budgets cross $1 million, median reach jumps dramatically to half a million people. At $5 million and above, these organizations are reaching a median of 7 million lives.
What we change

We change the system at three levels:

Capacity
01

Building internal AI literacy and infrastructure within nonprofits.

Collaboration
02

Connecting tech, funders, and changemakers into shared enablement ecosystems.

Confidence
03

Giving civil society leaders the frameworks to act, experiment, and scale today not months or years from now.

With our support

Social Impact Organizations become AI-ready, data-smart, and able to deliver 5× more impact with the same resources.

our programs

We move organizations from curiosity to capability through a step-by-step enablement paths

Each stage builds on the last - turning fragmented pilots into scalable systems.

We don’t fund tools. We build capacity.

Because tools follow readiness, not the other way around.
AI impact Lab
01

Cohort-based programs that enabe social impact organizations to turn a clearly defined social challenge into a functional AI prototype. With intensive, hands-on bootcamps that quickly elevate AI literacy and practical capability.

AI Scaling Program
02

A long-term support program that helps organizations take their working AI ideas - prototypes and MVPs that already show promise - and turn them into real, growing solutions. We do this through pro-bono talent matching, honest mentoring, a supportive community of peers, and practical guidance every step of the way.

The impact we want to create

Our North Star is to multiply the Impact of 100 proven social interventions by 2027

Tech To The Rescue Theory of Chnage - impact
Outputs (1–2 years):
  • 150+ nonprofits equipped with AI skills and prototypes
  • Open-source frameworks and datasets shared across the ecosystem.
  • Growing network of tech & funding partners co-investing in capacity.
Outcomes (3–5 years):
  • The social impact sector becomes a driver of resilience, not fragility.
  • Europe’s civil society gains digital parity with business and government.
  • AI use becomes ethical, inclusive, and systemic.
Impact (long term):

A stronger, AI-ready civil society — capable of defending democracy, accelerating inclusion, and delivering sustainable impact at scale.

Why now

Because time is the new inequality

AI is reshaping everything daily - faster than civil society can adapt. If we don’t act now, the digital divide becomes a resilience divide.

Our role: to make sure changemakers aren’t left behind and that they have access and are capable of using the technology they need to tackle the world’s problems.
AI Scaling Gap
01

About 72% of AI efforts for social good focus on research and innovation rather than widespread adoption and scaling, limiting broader impact.

McKinsey

Focus on Mission
02

Nonprofits spend an increasing amount of time on administrative tasks and fundraising—work that could be streamlined with AI, allowing people to focus on the most critical, human-driven interventions that truly make a difference.

Scattered AI Resources
03

Resources for changemakers exist, but they are scattered and disorganised making it hard for impact leaders to harness AI to scale their impact.

How to get involved?

We’re inviting:
Funders
who want their capital to multiply impact, not just maintain.
Tech partners who believe innovation must meet inclusion.
Social Impact Organisation who want to become AI ready or multiply their impact.
