As the son of political exiles, Dr. Andrei Serbin Pont’s passion for justice and the protection of human rights runs deep. We sat down to talk about his latest projects at [CRIES](https://www.cries.org/), the social and environmental research organization he is leading, and about his experience and vision of how AI can transform the work of nonprofits working with advocacy for vulnerable communities.

Poland has been grappling with some of the worst air pollution in the world for years. In 2013, “The New York Times” highlighted Krakow as one of the most polluted cities globally, revealing that residents breathed substandard air for 150 days of the year. During winter the benzo(a)pyrene concentrations reach alarming levels — sometimes ten times higher than what EU regulations deem safe.

The “Success Written in Lipstick” Foundation (Fundacja Sukcesu Pisanego Szminką) is a Polish non-profit focused on enabling personal development and increasing women’s presence in public life and business.

In the global fight against climate change, collaboration between tech companies and nonprofit organizations has become increasingly vital.

The SOK Foundation is a Polish nonprofit focused on aiding children in need with psychoeducation and supporting their development while teaching invaluable skills necessary for independent, adult life. The acronym SOK stands for “Samodzielność od kuchni (Independence in the kitchen)” – alluding to the importance of kitchen know-how in building self-reliance. The foundation started with providing cooking classes for children in foster care, but when the war in Ukraine broke out, it also turned to supporting refugees in rebuilding their lives in Poland. Currently, the SOK Foundation offers an array of educational activities not only works directly with the children, but also empowers educators to tackle the challenges they face while working with refugees. The nonprofit already enrolled over 40,000 children in its projects and provided help to more than 4,000 educators. It partners with world-renowned organizations, like WHO and UNICEF.

In Ecuador, Vida Plena is revolutionizing mental health care across Latin America. This inspiring NGO is driving significant change in areas where emotional well-being often goes unnoticed, thanks to their pro-bono partnership with Digital Mountaineers from the Tech To The Rescue community. Their collaboration showcases how pro-bono partnerships can amplify the impact of changemakers like Vida Plena, allowing them to concentrate their fundraising efforts on their core mission.

Trust in Chile’s democratic institutions has been deeply eroded, says Felipe Perry, a journalist turned developer with the nonprofit Fundación Ciudadanía Inteligente.

Founded by Bill Drayton and inspired by the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and the Civil Rights Movement, Ashoka has been working with nearly 4,000 social entrepreneurs, each with the potential to spark systemic change. From revolutionizing education to combating climate change, Ashoka’s network includes trailblazers tackling the world’s most pressing issues.

This impactful project is part of a larger partnership between Tech To The Rescue Foundation and[Twilio](https://www.twilio.com/en-us) to empower nonprofit organizations in disaster management through technology.

Tech To The Rescue matched Teen Challenge with Digital New Agency (DNA) which quickly got to work. The team used the UX process it typically uses for this type of project for clients. It began with the discovery phase, in which they identified Teen Challenge’s needs. The initial research was conducted within a week, and included several surveys of different potential target audience groups. The results allowed DNA to verify their hypotheses, create a site map and go from a low-fidelity mockup to the high-fidelity project of the website. Following further feedback from the Teen Challenge team, the DNA crew implemented the right messaging and imagery and launched the website in both desktop and mobile versions. What’s noteworthy is that webpage development is not a core competency at DNA, but this case was driven by a motivation to finish what was started and to help end-to-end.

The usability experts from Droids On Roids – a mobile app development company – prepared a thorough design review of the hakersi.pl, and defined areas for its improvement. They analyzed donors’ key motivations, the functionalities categories of fundraising organizations’ websites, and created Wireframes visualizing the new main page. All with the focus to make it more attractive to users and gaining more sponsors.

We spoke to Karla Sutil, Problem Solution Fit Guide at Boldare, to find out more about how the partnership started, what solutions were proposed, and how the product evolved.

End Poverty India is a nonprofit organization on a mission to reduce poverty in India by improving the living conditions for landless or marginal agricultural farmers, traditional artisans, uneducated women, and unemployed youth. Their initiatives cover grassroots programs and development interventions in the areas of sustainable agriculture, climate change and rural development, which empower communities across 9 states in India.

FaniMani, an IT social enterprise, created a “switch” to the Russian version on the foundation’s website, which allowed them to publish materials in this language.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine immediately caused the biggest European refugee crisis we have seen in decades. Many individuals across Poland and beyond rallied together to support Ukrainians forced to flee their homeland. The challenge, at least in the early days, was identifying who needed support, and how to reach these individuals. This is when a new platform, UAsos.org, played a crucial role. Probably the most amazing thing about it was that it was created by a group of organizations in just a few days.

Stratoflow is a software development company building high-performance software and a certified Salesforce partner. Their mission is to help organizations improve their performance as well as manage the complexity of their data management. One of the branches of Stratoflow’s activity is the implementation and optimization of the Salesforce platform. The company was matched with Anima International, and provided a solution that turned out to be a perfect fit. Not only was the charity able to create a lasting data solution to manage its income and outgoings, but it was also able to develop its own crowdfunding campaigns and develop a WordPress website to scale up its influence.

Silevis worked with ProVeg to create a user-friendly calculator which would automatically show the impact of swapping out meat-based meals for plant-based ones. The team at ProVeg worked hard to adapt existing data formats to suit the requirements of the calculator — a really valuable exercise as allowing them to focus on what was really important. The data isn’t hard-coded and the calculator was designed in a way that enables the update of data in the future, so that future developments and other factors can be taken into account in the calculation.

Skyrise Tech, an IT company, delivered an MVP of Patients To Patients application. The application helps to share experiences between people with the disease. User can find another person who suffer a similar condition, get support and practical tips on how to live in the new reality.

The Good Food Institute Europe was matched with SeoFly, which worked with the internal team to audit all the existing pages, implement SEO improvements and advise the internal team on how to write and manage content on the European website going forward. Sophie was presented with a comprehensive report that taught her about a range of important technical SEO methods, including formatting headings effectively, inputting metadata and image captions and working on backlinks.

Tech To The Rescue matched the team with ESPEO, a Polish software house, whose team quickly got to work. It involved developers from its Junior Academy – which is an internship program associating academics and young professionals developing their skills – and others who were between commercial projects, all under the guidance of an experienced Delivery Manager. The team dramatically improved the user interface, stopped the glitches that were causing the site to break from overuse, and boosted content interactivity – e.g. through a pop up which asked the reader whether they would benefit from support with the particular mental health problem that they were currently reading about on the site.

Through Tech To The Rescue, Polish Humanitarian Action was put in touch with influencer marketing app, Indahash, to create Peace of Heart, a charitable NFT collection, supporting Ukraine and its citizens. The NFTs which it features were created by digitizing drawings made by Ukrainian children, and highlight the experiences and emotions that they are faced with in their new, difficult reality. Everyone who supports the fundraising will in return receive a unique NFT – a digital version of a drawing made by a child from Ukraine.

Project 1 – Automated Information Extraction This project was to automate data extraction from delivery supply notes – a tedious, manual process that was fraught with difficulty. With the new system, the correct data was easily extracted and consolidated into reports. Project 2 – A new CRM system This project served to replace Excel spreadsheets that stored all the information about beneficiaries and the food they obtained. Previously, all this data had been collected manually with no way of cross-referencing data between the different food bank outlets. The CRM is designed for social stores, which is the flagship venture for Tricity Food Bank.

Rockon Tech, a digital tech agency, created an online second-hand charity store to finance foundation activities.

Tech to The Rescue partnered YTT with Sai Charan Tej, Founder of AI Quotient. Together, they worked to develop an app with 4 exercises that would engage Ukrainian children and help them to work through the emotions they experienced. The app was based on the learning approach, methodology, and content that YTT had developed with the aim of providing psychosocial support to children around the world.

We matched the Evergreen Cities Foundation with ACLIS, a team of innovators who combine web design, development, and branding into beautiful and engaging digital experiences. ACLIS has joined hands with Evergreen Cities Foundation to support an innovative solution addressing plastic waste and to develop the Evergreen Mobile Recycling app, a revolutionary, community-based platform to solve big problems that are connected to the poor waste management system: poverty, health-related issues and reducing environmental costs.

Vazco is a leading software development company based in Poland, and has supported multiple nonprofit organizations from the Tech To The Rescue community over the last years. This time, we sat down with Janaszek, Junior Project Manager at Vazco, to find out more about their recent impact tech project and their motivation to get engaged in tech for good.

“We have built a web platform for managing the Palliative Clinic team aimed at efficient management of the team’s work calendar, facilitating communication between clinics and volunteers, and managing shifts or individual competencies. The realized platform allows to securely store volunteers’ contact information, schedule work, and send automatic notifications. The scope of our activities included a needs analysis, building a dedicated service, providing the server and the service.”

GA4 audits are systematic reviews of a company’s GA4 setup to ensure it’s optimized to yield the best data for its marketing strategy. Commutatus created a sample Google Analytics 4 audit template that could be sent out to organizations that had already completed the migration. Tech To The Rescue then stepped in and sent out an email to their NGO roster informing them of the free audit offer and the reduced rate for subsequent data services. They matched Commutatus with 15 nonprofits from 9 countries: Poland, Germany, Belgium, the US, Ghana, Portugal, Netherlands, DR Congo, and the Czech Republic. The people Commutatus met through this partnership shared the same interests and values, which unlocked a new level of collaboration and cohesion.

We matched the Brave Kids Festival with 2N IT, a Poland-based software agency for a pro-bono impact project. Read our discussion with the agency CEO to learn why they decided to engage in this project and what they learned on the way.

Given the potentially extensive scope of the project, the key to success lies in facilitating iterative work and devising a long-term website architecture plan. Previous attempts by other companies to support TTTR had often stalled at the design stage without actual implementation. Taking this into consideration, the Objectivity team took significant ownership. Initially, it concentrated on the conceptual process to discover solutions and tools that would effectively address the organization’s current and future challenges. With the goals of boosting website traffic and increasing the number of matched projects, they suggested working with WordPress. The whole team worked to deliver a working solution and prepare it so that other tech teams or internal team members could further develop it.

The nonprofit reached out to Tech To The Rescue with a need to make their crowdfunding platform mobile-friendly.

Tech To The Rescue partnered with **[Admind Branding& Communication](https://admindagency.com/)** to develop the visual identity for the**[AI for Changemakers Accelerator](/ai-for-changemakers/),** a 3-year program designed to support 110 outstanding non-profits and social impact organizations worldwide with pro bono AI solutions. The program aims to help these organizations scale their missions across key areas like education, climate action, health, and economic opportunity. Before the program even launched, TTTR faced the challenge of how to promote it effectively and what visual direction to take. This case highlights how critical brand marketing and visual identity are for non-profits, especially when resources are limited, offering valuable lessons for other organizations looking to enhance their visibility and impact.

The nonprofit <strong>Woman4Woman</strong>is a social impact project of the Ukrainian nonprofit “Women’s Perspectives”, that raises awareness on the long-term effects of domestic violence through personal stories. They reached out to Tech To The Rescue with the need to launch a new digital platform, that will allow them to grow their impact.

The need of the nonprofit is to develop a new data platform, that will not only improve efficiency but also ensure adherence to EU GDPR standards.
